I just bought a Sonamp 1230 12 channel amplifier and plan to use it to distribute stereo audio throughout the house. Ultimately I'd like to power 12 sets of speakers of varying sound quality.
I am planning on using 8 of the channels to power four pairs of decent ceiling hung speakers in rooms where quality sound is needed.
Then I am planning on using two four-speaker selector boxes powered by the remaining four channels to run the remaining 8 speakers in areas such as the garages, bathroom, and hallways that don't need great stereo sound.
All speakers will be controlled by in-wall volume devices.
Is this set-up viable? Are there any issues using a speaker selector with an amp like this? Is there a better way to double the speaker output than this?
I know this isn't the best set-up for great imaged sound -- but my goal is to have even music throughout the house that sounds full and decent.
Any thoughts are appreciated!
