I'm getting a 4270 in about a week and was curious as to which has the better scaler? I have a DVD player that will output 480P over component. Just wanted to know if it was better to let the Pio do the scaling or get the Oppo so that it will upconvert. I know that the Pio would then have to scale again after the upconvert. It sounds like there several people with a Pio Plasma and Oppo DVD player combo and was curious as to what they've found.

The pioneer does a better job than the oppo970. You will want to send the set 480i over HDMI, and let it do the rest. The oppo will send a nice high quality signal, and the pioneer will do the only conversion giving you a great picture.

Also, if you want more information search for +4270 +oppo +970...this has been asked/answered multiple times :).

With the current prices of the 4270 compared to the 425CMX and 427CMX have you thought about one of the commercial monitors, you can save yourself alot of cash. 425CMX Information <<<Click Here>>> (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=736388) If you went with the Key Digial Card the Oppo would not even be required.

I'd experiment. The review of the Elite 940 at Ultimate AV showed it's scaling and deinterlacing to be only fair.
