Hi I should have my PT-AE1000 in a week or so just have a few ?`s if you could help me out.

1. I have been told that SD DVD`s are upscaled via the projector to 576p how come it doesn't upscale to 1080p ? - or have I been told a load of garbage ?

2. Will I be able to connect my PC to the PJ via HDMI and use 1080p resolution ?

1) SD DVDs will be upscaled to 1080p by the pj. You've been told a load of garbage--the pj can only show at its native 1080p resolution. (Some issues to do with HDCP compliance may have confused your source.)

2) Yes, assuming you have the software/connections.

I have been very impressed with the AE-1000U's upscaling of SD-DVDs to 1080p.

I use a Toshiba HD-A2 player for HD-DVDs, which also does a credible job of upscaling SD-DVDs to 1080i. However in my system, the result is much better sending a 480i signal to be upscaled in the AE-1000U, rather than doing the upscaling to 1080i in the player and de-interlacing to 1080p in the projector.
