Has anyone else had problems with the amount of effort it takes to move this thing in and out from the wall?

There is an adjustment bolt in the top of the articulating arm that i bent the supplied wrench in half with, trying to loosen. After getting after it with a 1/2" drive and socket i was able to get it loose, but it still seems to take a lot of effort to move the tv back and forth from the wall.

Chief suggests disassembling the mount and applying some grease to the nylon washer between the two arms. I was just curious if anyone else has had the same issue.

It also seems to take quite a bit of effort to snap and un-snap the mount from it's "home" position.

Please advise,
The Wolf

Winston:

Here is a page I found listing 35 different Chief Man. Wall mounts. Can you tell me which one you have?

I have the PNR which is the dual arm version and it is a smooth glide. I did not have to lube anything. The PWR is the single arm version of this:

I know this may sound lame but what about some WD-40 sprayed with long thin red nozzle extender, carefully into the joints where movement happens?

Just make sure you rag off all the excess because that stuff loves to run and drip even after you "cleaned up".

js-44sds,

No problems with the amount of effort it takes to move the screen? I have to apply about 30lbs of pressure to each side of the TV to get the arm moving. Not sure about the WD-40. It shouldn't be much trouble to pull the set off and dismember the mount to apply the grease. The thought of WD-40 around the plasma makes me pucker.

I just checked my setup and yea I have to give the Plasma a shove to get it moving...it is just that you have to overcome the vertical weight that is in one position for a long time. I think everything is ok if the plasma moves smoothly/quietly without any binding once you get it moving. If you need more...call CHIEF and ask them BEFORE you disassemble everything. :)
