View Full Version : Plasma Stand ?
ldogg29 03-07-07, 06:13 PM I have a Panny 50" 60xu on its way and need to know what Internet sites or even local B&M stores that you would recommend.
Nothing flashy and preferrably low priced. Although I picked up the Panny for a good deal, it stretched my budget a bit farther than I wanted to go.
Thanks
DDG1914 03-07-07, 06:21 PM Walmart. No, seriously.
dlconner 03-07-07, 06:26 PM Walmart has a few reasonably priced stands that are good for plasmas. If that doesn't cut it, try BB or CC, but that will cost more.
DDG1914 03-07-07, 06:49 PM Check This out: http://www.homedecoratorsoutlet.com/P/Hawthorne_Wide-Screen_TV_Stand_Console/410/. The one in the photo is white, but it also comes in oak. Solid wood...hmm...I won't vouch for that, you know how that is. Sure does look good, though. It'll be around $160 after shipping and "surcharges".
DDG1914 03-07-07, 06:52 PM Um, maybe you'd better scratch that. Their resellerating score is damn near negative. Sorry.
Marky_Mark896 03-07-07, 06:55 PM lol DDG :D
alaskaman1666 03-07-07, 07:06 PM Look At The Premier Vuterra.
ldogg29 03-07-07, 08:04 PM Thanks all. That Premiere Vuterra sure is darn Purty.. A bit more than I wanted to spend though...
I guess WalMart is where I shall go !!! Unless there are any other online sites anyone else can recommend.
DDG1914 03-07-07, 08:46 PM Have an Ikea nearby?

Lee Stewart 03-07-07, 08:53 PM Here are some stands available at Circuit City made by a company named Z-Line Designs,
I have the Phantom 50 and love that it looks like a wall mount . . but it isn't.
Very well made and futuristic stuff Z-Line is putting out.

Great stuff Lee ! I think I will head on to CC to check them out....
Prakash 03-08-07, 07:33 PM I really like some stands from Costco.ca. Once at the site, drill down as listed below to see all the stands:
home --> furniture --> home accents --> home entertainment
My favourite is Item # 117423
ldogg29 03-08-07, 09:33 PM Thanks all but heres a seperate question...I live in So. Cal ( earthquake country ) and am concerned that the TV may fall in a minor temblor. Not to mention I have 2 children who love to fall into inanimate objects..
Does anyone here have any good ways to secure the set to the stand to make it more difficult to fall over ?
Walmart has a stand that includes a spine and mounting bracket to float the tv over it, made for up to a 50" and 150lbs. I have one with a Pio 5071 on it with no problems. And not too expensive at $230.
Heres a pic:

The front wood part normally is a different color, but I sanded mine down a bit and painted it black. Also to keep from falling over, they include a couple pieces to secure it to the wall.

You think that will hold a pioneer 6070?
ldogg29 03-12-07, 07:49 PM You think that will hold a pioneer 6070?
Doubt it. It says "up to a 50" flat panel" with a max weight rating of 150lbs. A 60" TV would really be pushing it as far as balance goes..
Just got a call from Eagle who is delivering my Panny in about an hour and will post an "after" shot once its up.
Well the pioneer 6070 weighs 113 lbs. So I was thinking it would of worked.
Here's the one I went with. $189 CDN at Costco.

Looks good. Is that black glass?

Yes. For the price I paid I'm quite pleased.
svsneo, how sturdy is that stand, i seem to recall seeing it at walmart and thought it looked/felt kind of flimsy for the price

Just set up my Panny 50px60u last night on this stand and it is very sturdy. Mounting bolts are not included so be sure your TV has them. Panasonic neglected to include with mine so off to Home Depot I went to find proper bolts.
Everything but these bolts are included with the stand and it was very straight forward.
By the way, the Panny looks unbelievable !! What a pic !!
wilson10 03-20-07, 11:06 PM ldogg...any pics yet?
I am thinking of buying this stand but I am concerned about the height of the TV. It seems to set really high and there seems to be a large distance between the top of the stand and the bottom of the panel (at least in the few pics here) Is it possible to adjust the height of the tv once it is mounted? Thanks

Wilson10,
From the floor to the very top of the TV is exactly 5' 4" but keep in mind the stand is adjustable. I easily could have lowered the TV another 6 inches or so. I kept it fairly high because of the size of my center speaker.
Its a great stand, you will not be dissapointed

wilson10 03-22-07, 09:33 AM awesome thanks for the response. I was really worried that my new 42" would set too high and look funny. I have a smaller center channel so I will be able to move it down .One last question....does the mount tilt forward? I am going to try to convince the wife we need this LOL. I will post some pictures if I get it.

No tilt, BUT, unless you lay on the floor to watch TV it is a non issue.
