Didn't want to add this to the RS-1 delivery thread since that seems to be mostly about pre-orders being fulfilled - so I apologize for starting a new RS1 thread, but I wanted to start a discussion about options for people just now looking into getting an RS1 or HD1 (as opposed to people who had pre-ordered.)

Well I was fence-straddling for a while because I was fairly happy with my DC3 720p DLP but now that the bulb is dead I'm looking for an RS1.
Yes, I missed the pre-buy, but I'm wondering what my best options are at this point? I live in Southern CT, close to NYC, and the two local JVC pro dealers aren't looking too hot right now (they are more pro-equipment people and dont know much about home theater of this caliber). Normally I would unhesistatingly buy this pj from AVS but my understanding is I'd be in for a long wait. I contacted JVC about the HD1 but they were extremely unhelpful (I got a standard response saying go look up 'athorized consumer JVC retailers in your area' none of which look like they are likely to carry the HD1.) Also no mention of when the HD1 would be available.

Really I'd probably rather have the RS1 since I doubt the HD1 would be any cheaper and the RS1 is more likely to come with decent support.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Are you frustrated as well with the search for a RS1 or were you lucky enough to find one?

If you can't wait, I would highly recommend contacting Cam Man or jlglaw. They might be able to help you get one sooner. Cam Man is a professional DP, so you can count on his Panaglow MK II eyes.

If you are looking to buy it, I'm sure one of your local dealers will be happy to check if their distributors have any in stock. If you are looking to demo the projector some dealers might not be willing to bring it in just to demo. It might be more available locally than you think :D
