I receivced delivery of pioneer 5070 and what do youu know a cracked display. Anyone have this happen to them? I called the e tailer a forum sponor and they asked me to take pictures of the crack and shipping box before they can replace it. Is this normal operating procedure? Bummer I've got to wait.

unfortunate but a reality with shipping flat glass panel displays. just go through the procedure and hope they take care of you as they should.

Did you open it while the delivery guy was there and notice the crack? that is the best and should make for an easy return and possible they can ship one out to you immediately while they are going through the steps/paperwork to get that one picked up.

No I did not open it in the presence of the delivery guy. I'm hopeful Visualapex will do right by me. I'm bummed I have to wait longer to enjoy my purchase.

It does make sense regarding what they are asking you to do. It should be taken care of by the insurance of the shipper or the distributor from the company you bought from. I know its late for you but for everyone else I tell not to sign off on the delivery until you check out the inside of the box but if you do let the delivery driver go make sure to make lots of notes on the invoice. Always recommended indoor delivery from no matter who you buy from. Good luck.

When I ordered my Panasonic plasma from Visualapex, there were instructions on the website that said when receiving the plasma and the box is not opened in your presence, to note on the bill "possible inside damage". When I received mine, the driver insisted on opening the container and checking for any damage.

I also received a cracked plasma from Visual Apex. I immediately took pictures and sent to them. They took care of me - immediately shipping a new one before receiving the original back.

The second one (37PH9UK) arrived with scratch and blemish on frame. I accepted their offer to deduct original shipping cost. Very reasonable.

Roman I wish you accepted paypal. I would have bought the panel from you, since I hear nothing but good things about your company. I had money in my paypal account I wanted to use that's why I opted to use them. Anyway, I'll wait to see the outcome.

I ordered my TH50PH9UK from VisualApex and the delivery guy insisted on opening the box, in my foyer, and removing the PDP. We sat it on the styrofoam shipping spacers and we both inspected it thoroughly. It was in perfect condition, but he said "We aren't satisfied if you aren't satisfied". My experience with them has been excellent.

I highly recommend that anyone having a panel of this type delivered open it before you sign for it.

That is a odd method, we would have had you inspect it internally (before signing off) and reject it right on the spot if there is damage.

ProjectorPoint (they used to eb a forum sponsor, but I do not see their link up there any more) ships via UPS. The UPS delivery folk are on a tight schedule and the delivery man did not want to stick around for the box to be opened, but he said if there is any problem to let them know and they will come pick it back up. For a big company like UPS it sounded like a very matter of fact policy they have.

Some companies ship through very small privately owned delivery services, which may amount to some guy who owns a truck and he might be personally responsible for paying for any damage to the goods he delivers. In this case, you can be sure the delivery man will be paranoid about damage, and he might also be unwilling to pay for any damage, since it will hurt him financially.

When you shop for plasmas, be sure to inquire about the shipper they use, since it can make a huge difference in how they handle delivery problems.

AIT is a good company we use them once in a while. I will tell you a secret if you are nice to the driver you should not have any problems.

Slide him a 20, and he'll wait while you put the stand together. And probably even help. :D

yes, be nice to him and a tip is a good idea too.

but if they are in too much hurry, rude or insisting to leave, make sure you note on the receipt you sign that you were not allowed to open and inspect it.

their time is important to them also, so be prepared for the delivery and being able to inspect it in a timely fashion.

He should. That's cheap to go to a multiplex, and the seats are more comfortable too :D

UPDATE:

Visualapex did right by me. They shipped a replacement panel overnight and I just recieved it this moring, and I'm glad to announce this one is a keeper. Brand new set not a blemish Feb 07 production date. I couldn't be more pleased. Can't wait for DTV to install the HD DVR.
