I recently picked up a Turboscan T-1500 line doubler. Now I realize it's an old and not that great scaler from 1999. However I'd like to use it for it's component ability. I would like to hook up my PS2 or a progressive scan dvd player. However on the back there is only 9 pin RGB,S-video,composite and outputs for VGA.

After looking through google groups it appears many people have connected component to the 9 pin RGB port. Does anyone know where I can buy a cable like this or a pinout to make my own? IEV has gone long out of business and information is hard to find.

Sorry I can't remember what the pinout is. I had this unit for a few years back in the day. I think you are better off making it yourself if you can figure out the pinout.

I would not put to much effort into the component cable. On this unit there was very little difference between component and s-video.

Thanks. I would make the cable myself if I could find the pin out. Does anyone have a manual for this unit?

These were all the rage, back in the day, long before a progressive scan anything was around! :D
I still have mine lying about. All you need is a component to VGA cable and an adaptor that fits on the back of the Turboscan. I think the adaptor is VGA male/male or female/female on both ends, which fits on the input and then connects to the VGA cable. You need to select component on the input and output is standard VGA.

Thanks for the info didn't know there was component to VGA cables. My biggest problem now is finding the pinout for the Turboscan. Would you mind using a multi meter to read the pinout from the VGA to turboscan? Or possibly sell me your adapter?

I'll have to dig out the Turboscan out of my shed to check it, but currently don't have the time. The adapter is female VGA to female VGA and then a cable similar to the one above can be connected. You could try Radioshack for the adapter and you can find many variants of the component to VGA cable almost anywhere.
