why???

I've read through many threads but most are talking price, type, color. None that I have found address why to have them.

As compared to incandescent rope lighting, LED uses less power, runs cooler and lasts longer. The downside is that LED cost more.

I am at the very rudimentary stages of understanding HT here. Why would one use rope lighting led, incandescent or otherwise?

A lot of folks use it for accent/indirect lighting. Installed right, it won't cast any glare on screens or compete with a projected image. Plus it has a definite cool factor if done right.

I have one rope lighting under the lip of my riser and a 2nd set on top of some built in bookcases I have. I had to put them on dimmers, as they were mighty bright, but work well.
