What parts do I need to buy at Home Depot in order to control my lighting with my MX-3000?
Is there a specific manufacturer or part name and number?
THANKS!

If you want to buy something at a brick-and-mortar Home Depot, the only remote lighting control I'm aware of being sold in the stores is the Lutron Maestro IR (MIR-600THW-WH). I believe that you're limited to being able to control only one 600W load that in the line-of-sight of your remote. I also believe that the Maestro IR only lets you have 3 lighting levels at a time (on, off, dimmed), so you can't create multiple "scenes". I haven't actually tried one, but from what I read, it's pretty rudimentary.
The only other lighting control that Home Depot sells is the Smarthome Insteon equipment. It's a combo RF/power line lighting control system that's expandable to a whole-house solution. I don't know much about it since I'm only trying to control lighting in one room.
If you want more advanced and flexible lighting controls, you're not going to find them at Home Depot. You'll need to look at Internet sellers or custom installers (for the really high-end stuff).

Me, too.
I want to control 3 light switches on the wall, as well as, drapes.
I went to smarthome and now I don't know what's going on. I am confused. I am a tech-no geek and this automation stuff is hard to understand without me see it in person.
Does anyone use the MX-3000 to control multiple lights and drapes?

Not yet, but I know the basics I think...
There are several components. First you need the dimmers/switches to control the drapes and lights. These can be the insteon from smarthome.
Next you need an IR to X10 convertor, like an IR-543 (look on smarthome)
So your remote talks to the IR convertor which talks X-10 to the switches.
Check out remotecentral.com in the URC forums. Search on X10. I prefer the insteon dimmers to the X10 stuff, but since there is no pure Insteon convertor you can use the X10 one as Insteon can "speak" x10
