JR.com and Amazon.com are selling the Acoustic Research ARXP62 bookshelf speakers dirt cheap. They have a 6.5" aluminum cone woofer and some kind of aluminum-magnesium tweeter. It looks like a nice unit, but it is a discontinued product. You could buy 8 of them for the price of an ordinary pair of bookshelf speakers.

Are they any good? Might be a cheap way to go for a 7.1 system.

I was helping a friend of mine setup his system and he purchased the same speakers and the matching center at J&R music world and I was very impressed with their sound quality.

Sounds like a great speaker for those on a really tight budget.

They sound pretty darn good for $99 a pair and if they are cheaper thats even better. It was the best sounding bookshelf at J&R with really good bass. I was going to get 6 of them and the center about 3 months ago but went with Infinty instead...

They are rear ported so you cant put them to close to a wall
