I have recently purchased all 4 of the Discovery Atlas DVD discs-China,Italy,Australia,Brazil.
The only disc that will play on the Toshiba HD-A2 is the China disc. All the other ones give a message of : Cannot play this disc.
All other HD-DVDs - I have 5 other ones, play with no problems.
The players has the 1.3 firmware installed.
Has anybody here have any experience with these discs or give some pointers on how to play these discs.
I really like this series and would hate to have to buy a Blu-Ray player just to be able to see these discs.
Thanks in advance to anybody that can help.

I believe 2 of the discs (Italy and Australia) have issues on the HDDVD versions. I've read that Brazil/China should play fine though.
I'd contact the place you got them from (or possibly the Discovery Store directly) about getting a refund/replacement of the defective discs. Unless newer versions have been made though, you'll likely have the same issued.
I am running FW 1.4, and none of the discs play in my player. People running FW 2.0 reported success in playing these discs. Something to think about. I wouldn't upgrade just to play these discs, though.
I just got Discovery Australia and that thing won't even show menu on Xbox360 HD-DVD. Are we the only ones having problems? Brazil worked well but Australia is the first disc out of 40 I've seen that has major problems.

Australia and Italy do not work on the 360 at present. Amir just verified today on the insider thread that it will be fixed in the upcoming patch.
Brazil and China work fine though, I have them :)

Italy will not play on my Toshiba HD-A2 as well. Very dissapointing.
Any idea what the problem is? My computer doesn't want to play it either and it shows weird bunch of 1GB evo files, almost like DVD VOB files, not one or two large EVO files like all other discs I have. Maybe it's coded with H264, but why would Discovery use different encoding methods on the same type of discs? Any news when the patch is coming out?

Hi
I bought brazil, china and australia discovery atlas and have 2 A2's both with firmware 1.3
Australia says cannot play this disc.
Brazil and cCina boot up sort of and get to point where see a chapter 1 on the lcd and then they just hang.
WTF is with these discs?
