View Full Version : Best Way to clean fingerprints off lens?

Installed my RS1 last night and foolishly took the lens cover off before trying to ceiling mount the unit. I came from a Z4 and had been used to easily taking it down and rehanging it. Well needless to say, the RS1 is ALOT heavier than the Z4 and it took me quite a while to get it up there by myself. In the process of man-handling it, my thumb brushed across the lens and left a print. What is the best way to clean the lens off? :o

Lens/glasses cleaning solution and a unused high quality micro fiber towel.

I used a new microfiber lens cloth which they sell at optometric stores.

Just don't use anything like Windex. You want a soft cloth and lens cleaner (minimally if possible).

I don't think it's a good idea to use a reusable cloth. Just use lens cleaning paper and a good, non-residue cleaner. A few years ago, Guy Kuo recommended Formula MC from 2filter.com and I've been using it ever since.

Thanks for all the advice. I picked up a package pre-moistened lens cleaner pads at Visionworks tonight and used that. It worked perfectly and now the image looks even better than it did last night, since there is no longer a slightly blurred area on the screen.
