Woof Woof

I know a number of us had this problem, including me.
As many others have encountered, VGA out using the Microsoft VGA cable kit worked fine with most VGA modes up to 1365x768, but if we tried to enable 1920x1080, the whole screen would become very dark.
At first, I thought it was my VGA cable and was more or less resigned to it. With a max output of 1366x768, I was contemplating switching back to component, where I was still able to get 1080p for games, and 1080i for HD DVD.
But as I was tinkering around with the settings just now, I finally fixed it, I think!!
Go into the Menus and go to Section 4: Signal
Move down till you get to User Menu and press Enter
Now adjust Clamp Position downwards from the default setting. I dialed it down to 50 and the screen brightness was now the same as it was when the resolution was 1366x768.
Hope this works for everyone.
Next I put in AVIA, and it ran in 1080p as well. I did some quick brightness and contrast adjustments. Color and Hue were spot on for me (tho the color decoder check seemed to indicate Green was abt 5% too light, but small problem, this was in most of my other sources as well). Sharpness was dialed down to -10.
And then I popped in MI3 HD DVD and watched the Vatican Stairs in 1080p!! W00t!! I'd say the deinterlacing was as good as the XA2 I had in 1080p set to Film Mode!
NICE!! :)
Now if only MS would release the DDplus/DTS/Dolby TruHD to DTS high bitrate patch.
