Looking at some of the not released yet movies at Amazon .
I notice several are saying region 1 ...
Any clue on whats going on ?? I thought there would be no region coding .
Its nice to buy titles not released or exclusive in the states from other countrys ..

Amazon's specs are usually especially "DuRrrr" when it comes pre-release titles.

DuRrrr is good in this case !!
One of the many advantages hd-dvd has is no region code !!

Maybe they are combos.
Even if it were to be adopted soon, RC would not be required until some time next year. Besides current players will be region-free forever, supposedly.
Amazon lists all their HD_DVDs with region codes. But none do. I've bought 2 UK HDDVDS and 1 france import all work great (harry potter, La Haine and rambo 1)

That's what I've always assumed: the region coding refers to the DVD side of the combos. Since there is no formal method approved to implement and enforce region coding for HD-DVDs, I don't even give it a second thought.
Folks from Oz (Australia) have noted that combo disks there are selling for the same price as non-combo disks since the DVD side is region 1 / NTSC encoded, and therefore not a product useful to (most) Aussies.
