Im about to pull the trigger on the HD1000U but im really concerned about setting it up in my basement as i have pretty low ceilings at 6-9'.

I was talking with the projector people about setup and they said that there was no way i could mount it on the ceiling because of the large offset and that it would only work if floor mounted.

Im fine with floor mounting, but im wondering if it would still work without the image hitting the ceiling? I would also like a decent screen size (around 90'). Throw distance is not an issue as I have room to work with.

Note: Keystone is not an option as i have been told to avoid it at all costs

Any feedback or suggestions is very much appreciated

Thanks!

go to mitsubishi's website for projectors, and download the calculation tool. It is pretty easy to use, and it will show you exactly where the screen will end up. enter in the model, and screen size and a few other simple things (how far off the floor, enter a number in to the pole extension for that)

If you read more threads from this site about the HD1000 and keystoning, you will soon realize that alot of folks do it with this projector and it's not a big deal and makes virtually no difference in picture quality...I've heard some people say that they have keystoned as much as 20 inches without a noticable difference. So, you might still wanna try the ceiling mount thing when you get it.

you can tilt the screen itself if your doing a fixed screen (not a painted wall or drop down obviously) and then you'll have your rectangle picture with no keystoning
