I never realized it but when Ken said that PlayStation 3 will be 4D, I thought it was
a bunch of marketing bull. But then they announced home. Then 4D really came true.
For all you people who doesn't know what is the 4th dimension is, it's time. So time
goes by Home as it would in real life.

Seems like if it was a real world with a 4th deminision, your stuff would still be there when you left.

I don't see this as anything but a glorified lobby system. Guess some will like it, but I forsee myself liking a much quicker system for hooking up with friends, seeing if they are online, what they are doing, and what games they've been playing. With the PS3, I have to get them to log into HOME and then go to their place and look around? Some will like it, I imagine some wont. I willing to give it a try, but I suspect it's just not for me.

Dude you can still use the xmb to find people and see if they are online and in a game...The home is where you can get women to party at your virtual apartment....

If that's the case, I don't forsee myself ever using HOME, which is fine. I think I'm just missing what's so great about it other than a free sims type game that really isn't even really one big world, but multiple lobbies that probably have the same stores, etc. Sounds like a money generator when it all gets running. Not saying I have a problem with that...it's obviously optional.

Jesus. I am implementing on the word 4-D. 4th dimension is time. You can play a game in 4-D
which is Ken Kuturagi's saying. Playing a game with time passing you in game is 4-D. It isn't
hard to understand that. You people really need to stop playing video games too much.

there are a few games out there that run 24/7. I remember there was a PC game i used to play that it corresponded with your time and your resources and the other sides would grow or weaken with time.

and likenoother you are on crack. I dont think you understand the term 4-d. haha.
how does Home make it like the PS3 suddenly has a concept of time. I dont see home as anything more than a glorified lobby.

So Ocarina of Time was 4-D ?? Time was passing by in that game too... Majora's Mask had the moon falling down and a clock ticking. Would that be 4-D? Sitting around in a virtual lobby as the day goes by is what you mean about 4-D?

Guild Wars has a 3D lobby in it, you can show off your stuff. EQ2 and City of Heroes have bases/homes you can setup and others can see. In all of those games you can speak with one another and the decide on what you want to do next as a group. So I guess they are 4D now to.

Time in the 4D equation is controlling it, us living at home isn't controlling time. In your definition basically everything comes with the 4th D, time, yes we and everything is in some point of time. Control means going backward, forward or stopping it, having it run it's natural course isn't controlling it, it's controlling you, time pwns you, the PS3, At Home and Romero.

He's talking about Physics.....Relative physics, not Newtonian Physics I believe.

The physical world has three dimensions. Length, Width, and Depth. But really, it has 4 dimensions. Length, Width, Depth..and Time. Or is this Quantum Physics..BAH...I have no idea, this is for paralyzed guys with big brains or men sitting in lab coats puffing on pipes thinking about Equations to answer, not mere internet goobers like us :)

How he thinks that time affects the "Home" world any more than it affects any of the rest of us when we are gaming, I have no idea.

Maybe they were referring to the 4th dimension of Time as in "How long are we going to have to wait for some @($*ing games to show up for the system?". Now that I can believe :D

Excerpts from Wikipedia...

Time is often referred to as the dimensional "fourth time repeated dimension." It is, in essence, one way to measure physical change. It is perceived very differently from the three spatial dimensions in that there is only one of it, and that movement seems to occur at a fixed rate and in one direction according to the Conjunction Theory by Andrew O'Desky in 1973.
We as humans can only perceive up to the third dimension while we have knowledge of our travel through the fourth. We, however can not perceive anything past the fourth.

For example, locating a point on a plane (e.g. a city on a map of the Earth) requires two parameters — latitude and longitude. The corresponding space has therefore two dimensions, its dimension is two, and this space is said to be 2-dimensional (2D). Locating the exact position of an aircraft in flight (relative to the Earth) requires another dimension (altitude), hence the position of the aircraft can be rendered in a three-dimensional space (3D).

If time is added as a 3rd or 4th dimension (to a 2D or 3D space, respectively), then the aircraft's estimated "speed" may be calculated from a comparison between the times associated with any two positions. For common uses, simply using "speed" (as a dimension) is a useful way of condensing (or translating) the more abstract time dimension, even if "speed" is not a dimension, but rather a calculation based on two dimensions.

This is also the reason why time-travel can be considered theoretically possible if talking about moving forward in time, but moving backwards in time would be impossible.

This is because we are all time travelers, we all get to see the future, one millisecond at a time.

Also, consider that time appears to slow-down the closer you get to the speed of light.

If a person were to fly off in a space-ship and approach the speed of light, to them, time moves slower than to observers watching the flight. When that ship returned to earth, the earth would have aged hundreds or thousands of years. But to that person on the flight, only a years worth of time would have passed. In essence, that person on the flight was able to fly into the future. Boom, time travel! But you could never go back to your own time as time, for you, would not stand still, it would just pass slower *relative to you*.

So basically, to wrap this up as far as this thread is concerned, Sony still doesn't have any of their A-List titles on the frickin shelf, and wont...perhaps for hundreds or thousands of years!!! :D

The 4th dimension is time and it's supposedly acessible from any point if one knows how. Having a game or application does not mean that the 4th dimension has been breached or introduced to any of us. It's always been there. Technically, Pong dealt with the 4th dimension in that it wasted many people's experience of the 4th dimension. Everything deals with the 4th dimension. Maybe that's a sweeping generalization, but it's probably safer to assume that Ken didn't know what the hell he was talking about and merely meant that the 4th dimension was not time, but his new virtual reality PShome application: another "dimension" to "live" in and experience "reality". Ken is trying to uproot Newton, who was already uprooted (for the most part) by Einstein. Ken wants to usher in a new world of Physics based on Brand Loyalty and trying to rape virtual female avatars in your virtual pad. Is that a crime? Depends on what standpoint you're viewing the act from: and that, I think, was the whole point of Einstein's relativity theories. Objects, places, events are not really where we think they are: it's from our relative viewpoints that we get the idea of where they are. Ken is seeing PShome as some great application that will change the gaming world. That is his relative viewpoint. I don't think Time has anything to do with Ken's ramblings.

He means to say that time passes in Home as it does in real life. And nothing more.

Take the XMB background for example - it's sunset, the yellow is nearing the bottom of the screen.
