I have a ceiling mounted projector that's wired in the wall, and I really don't want to tear everything up to add an HDMI cable now that I'm upgrading to a new projector. I want to play BRDs and HD-DVDs at their best, are there any projectors that will do 1080p over component? Thanks for any help.

Most if not all 1080p projectors can accept 1080p input via component.
However, (if you demand 1080p source rather than 1080i) although some of the present HD-DVD and Blu-ray players can output 1080p via HDMI, they can only output 720p and 1080i via component. But, deinterlacing film based 1080i back to 1080p should not be a big problem for most 1080p projectors. So it hsuld not be a major hindrance for you if you want to use component video.

There is a wireless HDMI sysyem coming out, cant testify a to quality.
I thought 1080p over component was forbidden by both the HD-DVD and BR alliances? Which source are you planning to use that does 1080p output?

Well I know that the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player willl do 1080p over component, as will the PS3. What I'm not sure about is if Blu-Ray will with the PS3 or another player.
Thanks for the replies

My PixelMagic HD Media Box outputs 1080p over component, VGA and HDMI.
XBox360 outputs 1080p on component (but only for games).
Both setups work with my HC5000 component input.

I own both the 360 HD-DVD and the PS3. I can't get either to play a movie with 1080p output over component.
The PS3 will output 1080p over HDMI and the 360 will do it over VGA.
