I was interested in understanding overall performance and reliability results using the hardware of the HD formats (either format) via component connections and digital audio (Optical or Coaxial)? This poll is designed for any owner of either format that uses these connections. The only other element for consideration I'll add to this is whether you are using the latest firmware offered on your machine. So with that said, are you having any audio drop outs, lip sync issues, video stuttering, skipping, freezing, other issues with your hardware and software using component and digital audio connections?
Having read so many posts from folks that have all sorts of audio and video issues (small and large) I was wondering why I have been so fortunate with my hardware. I realize any individual is a very small sample, but I have tried out numerous machines in my home connected to a Denon AVR receiver and into a Mits 1080i CRT via component and using both optical and coaxial digital connections for audio. I've personally used 1 Samsung, 1 Panasonic DMP BD10, 2 Toshiba HD A1, and a Toshiba XA2 and have not experienced any issues using component and digital audio.
I realize 1080i and digital audio via optical or coaxial may not be the best or most technologically superior modes of using these BD and HD DVD machines, but I respectfully request that respondents stick to the requirements of the poll to see if there is any relevance to whether these connections may result in a less troublesome experience for the formats compared to hdmi, analog and other connections.
