View Full Version : Error Code: 408bc00c (King Kong) (HD-XA2)
transco 03-10-07, 11:45 AM At the very end of 'King Kong', during (or perhaps at the end of) credits, the disk stops playing and the screen displays:
Cannot play disk, Error Code: 408bc00c
Anyone seen this? Also, where on the disk does the 'Art Gallery' icon appear in the 'U-Commands' options?

Consider yourself lucky that this happens at the very end of the credits. This Error Code is quite a common issue with the XA2.

Exchange the disc. This was happening to me and I thought it was the player. I exchanged the discs and now it plays no problem.
stevesns69 03-11-07, 03:27 AM My copy did it also. Waiting for a firmware update that works.
It's not the discs... If you exchanged it and it worked that's good but the next time you play it that code could still pop up.

Is this just an issue with the XA2?
I have the HD-A1 and got this movie for christmas but havent gotten around to watching it yet.
I believe so. The XA2 was not ready for primetime when they released it...
I played my copy of KK on the XA2 (once in its entirety, and portions of the movie several times) and never had any error code. Seems that, for once, I have been lucky!
a.holck 03-11-07, 01:25 PM I got this as well on my E1 right when the credits start. Still at the older factory firmware though.

Well, whenever I see this error now, I take the disc to my xbox360. Everytime I did that, the disc froze at the same time as on XA2. That is why I say to exchange the discs. I had that problem with Poseidon and Army of Darkness. I exchanged them and played them couple times with no problem.

The other day, my XA2 froze. It wouldn't respond to the remote or the panel standby switch. To recover, I had to unplug it, wait several seconds, and plug it again (i.e. a hard reset). It may be my imagination, but it seems that once products were internet enabled, they were shipped without full field testing first; i.e. let the customer do our beta testing and then we'll update the units online. I've seen this with several products recently, including my PS3. Why pay for beta testing when your customers are willing to pay you for the privilege? ;) The fate of early adopters.
sharkshark 03-11-07, 09:38 PM its an error common to both 2nd gen machines, and =not= fixed by either replacement discs or the latest FW.
Not to be a schmuck and make things worse, but it's one major reason Ive dropped all plans for an XA2, keeping my (skippy, loud, slow but beloved) A1 instead.
