A bunch of Hitchcocks would put a massive smile on my face. The Constant Gardener too, and The Day of the Jackal, The Ninth Gate (owned by Universal in the UK, but Artisan/Lions Gate in the US), and Videodrome, although I'd only buy the latter if it was the director's cut.

BRAZIL.

Yes, this has already been announced . . . .

I hope we can collectively encourage Universal to do an aggresive restoration remaster on BRAZIL. It deserves to look better on HD-DVD than 12 MONKEYS.

BRAZIL warrants a new print or IP from the original negatives and a NEW and terrific transfer.

I'll toss one in here that has been ignored even on standard def... Colossus: The Forbin Project in the proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

Picking more realistically at things I think may see the light of day in 2007:
Fletch
Conan the Barbarian
American Grafitti
Silent Running
To Kill a Mockingbird
Tremors
and some Universal Monsters in time for October

and I'd kill for Vertigo or Jaws, but I'm not sure that's realistic at this point...

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Oh wait, that's coming out this month on HD DVD! :D

Ok then, Creature from the Black Lagoon. But not just any Creature from the Black Lagoon, I want the old red & blue version for old 3D glasses! :D

Anything LAW & ORDER (including the spinoffs)!

I would agree but would that include the awful trial by jury and the killed way to earlier conviction (technically not a spin of but one main character from SVU Alexandra Cabot was also in conviction and therefor to me they were the same "universe')?

dad1153
04-06-07, 12:15 AM
EEUUU, not Conviction! I've seen the repeats on UHD and they confirm why I didn't like the show when it was on NBC (besides being at 10PM Fridays, the "death" slot where the mothership show is currently dying): too much focus on the personal/private lives of the characters, not enough time dedicated to the cases/judicial process. I do not want to see Cabot rolling in bed with another ADA, I want to see her prosecuting cases and biting her lip in anger at a stupid judge's flawed decision. "Conviction" tried to be Grey's Anatomy of the legal world and it sucked the "L&O" joy out of the equation. No thanks, even the flawed and uninteresting Trial By Jury held to enough of the mothership's core concept (personal lives of the cops/prosecutors kept to an absolute minimum; 95% of the focus on the case at hand) to make it ten times better than "Conviction."

Ironically Universal is more likely to release "Trial By Jury" or "Conviction" on HD-DVD than the three main "L&O" shows because (a) they're more likely to recover some of the money they lost on these shows (which were rather expensive bombs) and (b) they were shot with HD already in mind (unlike the other shows which adopted it over the past few years). I'd like Criminal Intent season 2 on HD-DVD (the debut of Mayam D'Abo's Nicole Wallace as Goren's arch-nemesis) as well as the last season of Special Victims Unit (the one that earned Mariska Hargitay a Best Actress Emmy) and the eighth season of the original "Law & Order" (the one that won a Best Drama Series Emmy and had all the regular characters in turmoil: Adam Schiff's re-election, McCoy's unethical conduct, Briscoe's daughter getting caught doing drugs, Van Buren hitting the wall with her lawsuit, etc.). Give me any of these on HD-DVD and I'll be happy clown. Case dismissed.

DOINK DOINK :D

I was browsing the Blu Ray section earlier and I was reading a thread regarding Munich. On Imdb it has Munich as being both distributed by both Universal and Dreamworks which is now Paramont, that would make this movie available to both formats if it ever were to be released. So which is it?? HD DVD exclusive or Paramont both formats???

I would like to see a Jurassic Park title (either I and/or III), Jaws, and back to the Future. However, I'm realistic and know these won't get released for years. Therefore, I'd really like to see Scarface, Conan the Barbarian, and all three American Pie titles which were badly compressed on DVD.

Classic monster movies would be nice too.
