I currently have a 42" LCD in my room. I have a standard 11 x 10 bedroom. What I'm thinking of doing is getting the hitachi TX100 to get rid of the TV.
2 Questions
1) I will have the projector only 9' away from the wall. Will it display at a decent size running 16:9 (I'm hoping a minimum of 60" screen size)
2) I've searched & searched & searched but can not find out whether or not this projector is PS3 compatible over DVI ? (I know this question should be in the PS3 section but I didn't want to make 2 posts)
Thank You very much
DAN
What is your budget and is there any particular reason why you chose the Hitachi? I hope you're getting a really great price.
9' from lens to screen will give you upto a 98" diagonal image. I don't know why it wouldn't be compatible with PS3 over DVI.
There are better units than the Hitachi for good prices. I don't know what you're budget is though. $899 can get you a 720p DLP nowadays.

I'm not sure if I can say prices but the hitachi is 200 dollars less then the price you posted. I cant have anything DLP, I have sensitive eyes an can see the rainbow effect & gets me physically sick. The hitachi, for I'm going to use it for is perfect for me (Gaming Only). As for PS3 & DVI. If you go to the PS3 section you will see many people have issues connecting the PS3 with HDMI~HDMI/HDMI~DVI. Thank God my westinghouse has had no problems with the PS3 over HDMI~DVI.

Please advise me if I'm reading this chart correctly.
The last number on the right is the length from PJ lens to display wall. The last number under tele in Distance. (http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/projectors/hitachi-pj-tx100-projector-review/pj-tx100-features-and-basic-setup)

FYI, most people in the projector forum willsay it's worth it to get a projector from in thta size room, and those in the plasma/DLP will say otherwise.
I'm in the same boat as you, 46" DLP in an 11x12 room and I've yet to find someone in any of th eprojector forums to say don't go projector.
You wlil easily get well over 60" in a 9 foot throw.

In that size room, he's likely to be better off going w/ the TX100 - placement flexibility alone - will be able to play w/ the right screen size to reduce SDE & such. And for about $200 less than any available 720DLP. (And I'm a DLP fan)
Just to clear it up for anyone reading & doesn't know - the TX100 is 720LCD
