Hi there folks, I have just purchased a 2nd hand Panasonic AE700 projector as an upgrade to my trusty AE500. I recieved it yesterday and have just turned it on. It only has 7 hours on the bulb which I thought odd for a 2nd hand unit but the guy who sold it said he never got round to using it as he found a different projector cheaply so went for that one instead. Fair enough.

The service mode backs up the timings and states that the counter hasn't been reset. Anyway, on to the picture. Everything is fine apart from the left hand side (as you look at it) has a green tint vertically down the side.

I have tried to link to some photos here for you to see what I mean but I need to make 5 posts before I can do that. There is no way I can live with that so do need some advice on what could be causing the problem and whether it is easy to fix. I have messed around with the settings but to no avail. This is with a feed via VGA and Xbox 360 and also va component from my Xbox (using High Def AV Pack)

When watching films etc it's hardly noticable but it's one of those ones that will no doubt bug me everytime I use the projector so need a solution.

First post here after being a lurker for a while so hope someone can help a newbie ;)

Many thanks

Sounds like the LCD panels were misaligned either at factory or shifted during shipping as it's present on ALL video sources. Eitherway, there is no easy end-user fix. Dust likely is more spotty and not the entire L side. LCD polarizer plate degradation is unlikely with a nearly new unit (unless the seller has a way of fooling you in the service menu). Either way I would try to return it or if under warranty, send it in for repair.

Thanks for that advice. Would it take much for the panel to be re-aligned do you think? My local Panasonic Service Centre charge £25 (GBP) just to look at it, although they take that cost off the parts (if any required)

I take it it's not something I could do myself?
