Does anyone know of a reputable outfit that leases projectors. Preferably the Mits PJ? My wife wasn't to keen on my idea of buying the Mits and then selling it when the 1080 models start coming down in price (yes...I am idiot for mentioning my plan).

You can just buy one and if after she sees what one can do for your viewing pleasure and just doesn't want it, you can easily resell it for near the same as you got it for. Much cheaper than renting is going to be if you can find a business who will lease it to you.
1080Ps are not coming down to 1K any time soon and look at all the valuable screen time you are losing right now.
New genration/high peformance projector prices have hit near rock bottom - the lease costs (if this ever happened) would outstip the buy cost in a few months (e.g brand new AE900's were selling less than 1300 dollars in recent months -which are near point and shoots)
Projectors have to handled with extreme care - making then very unsuitable for typical leases by consumers. Also the bulb shutdown procedures have to followed very carefully, and they must be kept away from young children
