Hey guys, just a quick simple question. What is the best way to clean your Lens on your projector? I own the HD1000u and it seems to have some dust particles on it. I thought i'd use windex but thought i'd ask just to be safe.
Several threads address this issue.
DO NOT USE WINDEX.
Use a lens cleaning solution and lens paper or a new, unused microfiber optical cloth.

I use a microfiber cloth...if there's a smudge, I'll wet one corner with just a touch of water, and then wipe dry with the rest of the cloth. Same way that I clean my plasma screens.
You can actually also check out some photography resources and look at all the articles on it.
I'd use a bulb blower first, and if anything remains then bring out the friction/chemicals.
Lens cloth and lens cleaner.

The microscope guy at my work were talking about cleaning lenses and he said they use scotch tape to remove dust from glass lenses, to prevent dirt/dust particles from grinding into the lens when you wipe it. After that he said a cotton/microfiber cloth.

What about the tape residue?

And by "lens cleaner" is an eye-glass cleaner solution appropriate or special camera/projector lens cleaners only (and if so what are they called/sources).

Don't bother unless there is a bad smudge. The lens is out of the focal point, so it usually won't make any difference.
