Hi I got a few questions concerning the use of my PS3. Hopefully someone can give me some answers.

Do you guys usually turn off the on/off switch in the back or do you usually just turn off the system without completely turning it off from the back (red light in the front stays on). Would it in any way affect the longevity of the system if I didn't turn the system off from the back.

Also is there any way to keep the PS3 from autoplaying PS2 game discs from startup? I don't like to take my PS2 games out everytime because over time, the discs start to get scratched up.

Thanks in advance!

when you don't flick the switch in the back, it's in standby mode, and it is pretty much off. this will not affect the longevity of the PS3. i (and probably most people) just leave it in standby mode, rather than flicking the switch.

you can stop games or movies from auto-playing by moving the direction pad before it launches. afaik, theres no setting that stops discs from auto-playing though.
