Hi
I was wondering if anyone has tested the PS3 on a Dell 2007wfp using an HDMI -> DVI adapter?
According to Dell the 2007wfp supports HDCP, but I though it would pay to ask those in the know to make sure this combination plays nice.
Thanks

I wouldn't bother. The scaler in the Dells isn't that great so it would convert 1920 x 1200 to 1280 x 720 and it just doesn't look very good in the conversion.

Can't the PS3 be set to output 1280x720? - I use this setting with my 360 and it seems to work ok once I set the monitor to preserve the aspect ratio.

Ya, but that's not the issue. The issue is the native res of the monitor is 1920 x 1200. Ooops, I just realized I misphrased it. Sorry it's late. The problem with the Dell is it would take a 1280 x 720 signal from the PS3 and upconvert it to the native res of 1920 x 1200. The scaler in the Dell isn't great so the conversion to the native res would make it not look great. Sorry for the confusion.

It's a Dell 2007wfp so the maximum resolution is 1680x1050. I understand that the picture displayed on the monitor won't be it's native resolution - I'm more interested as to whether the 2007wfp will work with an HDMI -> DVI adapter at 720p. I'm new to HDCP so am interested whether anyone else has tried this.

That's the setup I have in my living room when my wife uses the LCD TV to watch her shows. I just plug in the PS3 into the monitor using the DVI. I use the composite cable for the sound which I attach to the input on my soundcard. I can't get anything about 720p on the monitor though.
Hope this helps.

I think my monitor is the 2407 and it displays 1080p with the PS3 via HDMI -> DVI perfectly.
It takes a little work (drop the res down then up, etc.)

I thought I read that 2407 doesn't do 1080p. Could you tell me the steps you took to get 1080p on your 2407?
Thanks.
I'm using the Dell 2407 with the PS3 without any problems. I do need to occasionally use the "hold the on/off button for 10 seconds when starting up" trick if I moved the console from my TV to my monitor. My TV onl.y supports up to 1080i, but the Dell will NOT accept ANY interlaced signal on the DVI port.

So you just plug the HDMI -> DVI cable from PS3 to Dell 2407 and it works fine without having to do any other setting changes? My TV is 1080p so I shouldn't have to hold the on/off button.
2407 does 1080p for the ps3 and it does 1080p via vga for the 2405fpw on the 360.
and when it runs in 720p it looks delicious.
Check out the [h]ard forums they have alot of people that use this setup.

Can someone please post a picture of the PS3 running via DVI on the 2007wfp?
