Hi,

I'm looking for a 1080p receiver(I have been looking at the Panasonic sa-xr 700) to go from my PS3 to my Samsung HL-S5687W. Is this a good choice?

What does everyone else have? What would you recommend?

Since no one else has chimed in yet, I will reply.

The PS3 has an HDMI 1.3 connection on it, and is backwards compatible. To take advantage of the additional benefits of HDMI 1.3 (http://www.hdmi.org/resourcecenter/index.asp), you would want to look into a receiver that supports it. Unfortunately, there may not be alot of receivers that support it yet, or they just may be too expensive at this point.

In that case, you should be able to go with any receiver that supports HDMI 1.1 which is the current standard for most equipment out there.

Also, you may have better luck with responses if you posted in the AMPs, Receivers, and Processors (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=90) thread, instead of posting here in the Game Room Equipment & Accessories thread.

I don't know about the panasonic but know in the summer Sony is coming out with a line of receivers that are ps3 minded - ps3 graphic interface and 1080p passthrough might want to wait

For 1080p output and HDMI 1.3a compatibility, I would recommend the Onkyo TX-SR605. You'll find a huge thread about the upcoming Onkyo's in the amps, receivers, processors thread mentioned above.

Of course to truly take advantage of HDMI 1.3a, you'll need a TV that can support it as well. But otherwise, any HDMI 1.1 receiver can support the 1080p spec.

Good Luck!

I second looking at the new 2007 Onkyo lineup.

If you have the $$$ I think the Onkyo TX-SR674 would be a much better investment than the 604.

Looking at cnet, it appears the 674 is the "most bang for your buck" receiver.
