View Full Version : anybody played GT4 on PS3?
giggspy 03-12-07, 02:28 PM Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has played GT4 on their PS3 yet? how does it look? I am planning to buy it since it is only 20 bucks.
modiGTI 03-12-07, 03:52 PM Looks decent, the background looks terrible but it dosen't bug me.
jvargasg 03-12-07, 04:40 PM looks horrible it really sucks
Sunkist 03-12-07, 04:42 PM Looked the same as on my PS2 which was pretty good, especially in 1080i mode but that only helps when on the track, while on the menus and stuff it is 480i which is kinda fuzzy. Great game though, you should pick it up!
talbain 03-12-07, 04:57 PM gt4 is a great game, ps2 or ps3. the graphics are very much dated, but it's still fun...
FiveMillionWays 03-12-07, 06:58 PM I think it looks better on a PS2 with component cables and settings at 1080i. Right now the PS3 makes that game look very muddy!
nismorg 03-12-07, 08:07 PM I Have GT4 and have played it on my PS3. But for some reason my Driving Force Pro wheel quit working on PS3 after GT4.
kevinjo23 03-14-07, 01:03 PM I would have to say the game does lose some of its luster on the PS3. Hold up any 720p next to GT4, you will likely be disgusted in the GT4 picture.
Hold out for GTHD...I'm hooked on that trailer.
I thought it looked horrible as well, and I'm not really a "graphics" guy, as I still find many older generation games fun and plenty enjoyable.
However, in driving games there's so much detail. I found I preferred, as Kevinjo23 pointed out, the GTHD trailer. I wish they would just have come out with a full game of GTHD to keep us all happy until GT5 comes out God knows when.
w1ngman 03-14-07, 03:51 PM Hmmm... Well I for one would say that setting it in the 1080i mode on my Sammy 61" HD RPTV was as good as I could have asked the game to look. Definitely better than my older Hitachi 60" non-HD set. I was highly impressed.
TheMoose 03-14-07, 06:43 PM I'm thinking it's not as good as it was on the PS2 on my 70" 1080p XBR2, the fences showed a lot more "jaggies" than it did on the PS2 (thru component).
On the PS3 it was thru HDMI & it was set to 1080i & 16:9 it looked OK but without FF it wasn't as much fun.
Even upconverted it's still SD so it's not going to magicly appear HD.
Lets hope now that the lawsuit is settled they will turn on FF for all the games.
GT4 is great on the PS3. 1080i, and force-feedback too.
Lucas_24 03-15-07, 08:50 AM GT4 is great on the PS3. 1080i, and force-feedback too.
I didn't think Force Feedback was supported through the PS3 for GT4. I'm waiting to buy my wheel until FF is supported since I don't own a PS2.
yakkosmurf 03-15-07, 06:11 PM I play it in 1080i, and it looks the same on the PS3 as it did on the PS2. I am using component hookups. I don't know why it would look different given the same PS2 hardware is in the PS3 doing the decoding. I could see some artifacts cropping up if you're trying to have the PS3 convert it to HDMI, but through component, there is no difference.
