hey guys,
I am seriously thinking of reinstalling my 106" Model B Highpower screen but since its going to require quite a bot of work I want to be sure.
I was using the screen with my 4 plus year old X1 and the screen brought the picture to life. I am now using the Z4 on a blank wall and it BLOWS the X1 out the park (at 106") in brightness (even in eco mode) , colors and vibrance. I am just concerned if the HP will change how the b;lacks/contrast looks on the Z4 now. Also, I am worried if the picture will be too bright (if there is such a thing) and I will have to recalibrate the Z4.
What do you guys say?
The highpower screen material will reject ambient light, which will help with ansi contrast. I would definately go for it. For the full effect of the highpower's gain you'd want to have our projector table mounted -- ceiling mounting will reduce the gain of the screen from about 2.8 to 1.5.

Im running a hipower with my Z3, besides the hi power wont make your blacks look any worse, the contrast wont change because of the screen , sure grey screens will make it look darker but then the whites suffer, my z3 and hi power are probably on the almost too bright side of things, but thats what the iris setting is for! it looks great though

My Z4 is shelf mounted , about 2 feet higher than where I sit, so I guess that should work just fine.

Your blacks are worse if you're using a high power. They are over two times brighter. This won't affect bright scenes with blacks, but it will effect dark scenes with blacks, especially low APL scenes. That is a fact.
A light grey neutral grey negative gain grey screen doesn't make the whites suffer if the projector is bright enough. If the whites suffer it's because you are most likely directly comparing it against a brighter higher gain material.
I could show you an example of how whites appear to suffer on a matte white screen compared to my silver torus screen when compared at the same time. The human eye has irises that automaically adjust for the higher white level, which can make the difference between two screen materials much more dramatic when viewed at the same time than had you viewed them seperately.
The best and only way screen materials should be judged is by theirselves one at a time. If you don't judge them that way the brighter one will generally be preferred because your eyes adjust for it making the grey appear darker by comparison and making the whites appear worse.

well a Z3 and a Z4 are not really light canons, i did notice my darks not as dark but my brights were more more bright and vivid so the image as a whole to me still has the same contrast range, the highpower really just brings out the limitations to the projectors contrast ratio. I sampled many pieces of screen from Carada and Da Lite and yes the cinema vision was great but the hi power really just brought the image to life for me. My blacks also improved more i believe when i got the CC 30 R lens and made the color adustments to get close to the 6500k, a Z 3.5 as they say.

oh as for my whites not looking good, maybe its because i had a greywolf, terrible texture on that screen
