Just checked out 1up.com where they have a story about God Of War 3. They confirm that it will be in 1080p PLUS will feature sixaxis and rumble. Can't wait to pay for another controller. I hate money.

God of War 3 to Have Rumble, Run at 1080p
And the PSP version is finally confirmed.

You read right -- God of War 3 has been unofficially announced during the launch party for God of War 2. Matt's got the goods in his liveblog of the event:

9:40: Did Barlog just confirm that God of War 3 will be in 1080p with Sixaxis and VIBRATION functions on PS3? He sure did! Whoa! Well, technically he didn't confirm GOW3, but he confirmed Sixaxis and vibration for the future of God of War.

9:35: Okay, first official group of details on the PSP game:

-It's not a port. In the words of director Cory Barlog (who is involved with the PSP game along with developer Ready at Dawn), "It is its own story that connects to the overall story. God of War, God of War 2, and then if all the stars align God of War 3 will be the telling of a trilogy. This PSP story will be a further fleshing out."

-The developers are not sure what's going to happen to the roll that was previously on the right analog stick yet -- various ideas like a toggle are being thrown around, but we don't know any more than that. "There are plusses and minuses to all of it," says Barlog.

-There's no word on where this sits in the overall story yet.

-There's no word on PSP/PS2/PS3 connectivity features. Ready at Dawn was one of the few developers to do PSP/PS2 connectivity with Daxter and Jak X, but Barlog says: "As far as the connectivity and stuff, it sounds awesome, but really kind of just found out about Home ourselves... Home was in development [during GOW2], but nobody really on our development team was knowledgeable about it, so there wasn't much we could do about it."

-The goal is for this version to be just as epic as the others, despite being on PSP. Barlog: "It is epic. It is big. There are hooks in the PSP story that I actually wrote from one of my first stories for God of War 2, so there are a lot of elements -- we're going to keep connecting all this stuff. To me, it's a persistent world... I want the PSP version to not feel like the PSP version... it's just as big. It's just as epic. It's God of War."

-You may revisit some general areas, but none of the same levels from previous games. Barlog: "We're not reusing any levels. We're not doing any of that stuff. It's all original content. And the game will ship with a second analog nub -- totally kidding! Not true at all!"

Dave if Sony did that I'd toss my 360 out the door and be a Sony fan boy for life. Seeing as how that will probably not happen I'll remain a Sega Genesis fanboy, lol.

EB will let you swap them a nominal fee, in a sense. You trade in your old one for 30% of retail, then buy a new one and the difference would be your nominal fee. :D

Did they cut out a Barlog quote? I don't see Barlog mention anything about sixaxis or 1080p other than the below blogger comment. I did see Barlog mention that user created content wont happen, co-op probably wont happen, and episodic content doubtful. We all know GOW3 will be on the PS3 to round out the trilogy but I didn't see anything in the article quoting Barlog on rumble. It makes sense and I'm the first to say bring rumble back. But 1080p???? Come on. How many times have we heard developers say 1080p? Just stick with a high framerate at 720p. I'll be fine with that.

How far along in development is God of War 3? It's easy to say that you're planning on 1080p, but it's a whole different thing to actually ship the game at that resolution. There are lots of decisions made during the development process where features are cut and "stretch" goals are pulled in. So is it possible? Yes. But is it a definite to ship at such a resolution? No.

I can totally see them getting away with 1080P with this game at a rock solid frame rate as long as they don't go too batty with the effects. The game already looks great on the PS2, so it's going to be interesting to see where they go with the art direction, model creations, and motion sensitivity.

2008 is a long ways off. Of course, it's most likely going to get oushed back. :P

But Sony has always suggested that any rumble technology could interfere with the motion sensing capabilities built into the PS3 controller.

What about this??? Is Sony going to just admit the truth? Or do they hope we have short memories?

Let see God of war I came out like in late 2005 right...and got of War 2 came out like today...so god of war PSP will be out next year, and god of war 3 for the PS3 will be out in Spring 2009.....

We got heavenly sword to come out late this year or early next...to tide us over till god of war 3...

Between Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, GTA4 and PS3 HOME.....i will be happy...

Sounds great, but we'll have to wait a while before knowing anything for sure.

This is hardly confirmation. I read this story on 1up too, and I wondered if something was missing. This is merely rumors and heresay. Of course, considering that Sony settled with immersion, of course they will have rumble in the future, duh... But this is far from any type of confirmation of that.

I gave up on sequels. I don't want to dirty my memory of the original God of War. Thanks, Ratchet and Clank, for helping ruin my need for sequels. Oh and Star Wars Battlefront 2, etc....
