Okay team... I knew that thread would get your attention! :)

Just bought a Samsung 19" LCD (LN-S1952W). Apparently it only weights ~6 pounds.

I want to mount it onto a wall that has 1 metal stud, and is just drywall using the 'built in wall mount" (3 screws with the plastic anchors)

I think we all know that it won't work, but I'm wondering if I was to get one toggle bolt behind the metal stud, and then use molly bolts for the other two holes.

Do you think its possible?

my builders ( also doing metal studs) reccomended the metal anchos that screw into the wall and then you put the smaller screw in the middle- They said these can hold up to 50 pds.

The ones I am tlking about can also be found made of plastic, but they (an I) reccomend against them.

They look like a big auger bit, with a + phillips slot that you use to screw in the anchor

Thanks for the suggestion.

The TV actually weights 11 lbs, and with 3 metal toggle bolts (1/8 x 2") I was able to fasten it to 1/4" or 1/2" drywall. It's not 100% stable, but 95% stable (i.e. I could rip the TV off the wall if I wanted to) but I'm happy with that...

The anchors Heywood is describing are called EZ-Anchor and are available at home depot (maybe lowes). I would use the 90lbs rated ones, they have a toggle that engages the back of the drywall.

Good luck

not trying to hijack the thread but i have a similar problem. I am wanting to mount a 27" tv (40lb) to just drywall. would I need to get at least 4 toggle bolts to fasten it to my drywall, or is that too much strain?

IamAnoobieCheez mounted his TH-50PH9UK 50 inch plasma to drywall and that thing is like 90lbs so i do not think you are going to have a problem. Check out this
