anyone out there with one of these Runco's? Mine has started to shut itself off after 15 minutes and the status light is blinking in a 4 second on, 4 second off pattern, which if I'm reading the manual right means it's overheating. :(

I'm assuming it's a dust problem, but the manual is not very clear on how to clean the unit (some Runco's have dedicated filters to clean). Anyone ever cleaned one of these or had the same issue?

Might be a fan failure. 15 min sounds like about the right amount of time for a PJ to go from cold to over-heat w/o a working fan.

ah good point. i'll start it up again and see if it sounds like its usual jet-engine self. ;)
do you happen to know if the VX-1C has more than one fan?

thanks!

Follow-up.

here's what happened with the VX-1C. Sent it back to Runco and it turns out it wasn't the projector at all, but the VHD controller that was at fault. The VHD's power supply was flaking out and the projector was warning that its incoming signal was faulty. Anyway, much cheaper to replace a power supply in a controller than a projector. :)
