I am very new to HD processing, I have a barco 808s and HD cable box, when i am watching HD content the picture is breath taking, now when I am watching my DVD the picture is ok. My question is will a Dvdo HD processor make my picture look as good as the HD content on my HD cable Box ?

A video processor may improve your picture, but you will never be able to magically turn Standard Definition content into true HD. There simply isn't enough resolution in the source.

What DVD player are you using, and how are you interfacing it with the Barco?

I have a comparable CRT (Sony G70), and use a VP30 with the ABT102 and an SDI modified Denon 2900.

There are many differing opinions on *if* a VP is a good investment, but keep in mind that the majority of these opinions come from owners of now predominant _digital_ displays, that have both deinterlacing and (in the case of HD sets) scaling capabilities already in the display. As a CRT owner, you *need* some form of external deinterlacing and scaling - as the CRT PJ usually does neither (although the Barcos and Sonys can be equipped with primitive factory doublers, etc.). You can perform these functions in the player itself (or an HTPC), in an external scaler, or a combination of the two.

If you want the ultimate in SD performance, you'll want a good video processor and player capable of sening 480i digitally to the VP. This will usually entail a player with 480i HDMI (Oppo) or SDI output. The VP will also allow you to eliminate the KD transcoder, and perform all switching from a central location.

When you go shopping, it's _imperitive_ that the sales person knows what a CRT projector is, what it is (and is not capable of), and that a CRT PJ is *not* a digital display with an integrated VP.

In short, you *need* some form of external deinterlacing and scaling for an HD CRT - this is not an option. If you have the cash, you might as well do this in an external VP. All you sources will be able to take advantage of the VP, and it will simplify your switching and allow a single cable run to the PJ.

Thank you for the insight, I saw a VP on ebay, ( Iscan HD) that I am going to purchase hope this can make a big difference.
