I am looking a new pj to replace my g15. I have been away from this stuff for several years, and am not up to date on the new stuff. Can anyone help me out comparing the HD2K, which now can be had for a reasonable price, with the new RS1. The HD2K comments have basically dissapeared. Thanks

I'm replacing my HD2K with an RS1 and you can see some of my comments on this comparison in the RS1 owners thread. If you go with the HD2K make sure it's a Wm calibrated unit and that his autoshading was done on it (not all Phelps Optimized projectors were autoshaded because this capability is fairly new). Quality shading and calibration is one of the few strengths of the HD2K over the RS1. High APL performance is fairly close between the two, but it's almost a joke to try and compare low APL performance (the RS1 is far superior). Both are native 1080p but the RS1 seems to have a little more detail probably due to the new panels. The RS1 will also take 24p input. The RS1 is also quieter and the colors are much more saturated. In fact the RS1 color gamut is slightly oversaturated from Rec. 709 while I think the HD2K is undersaturated.

The HD2K is also still more money than the RS1 when you compare apples to apples.

I did have AB comparison ...................and I personally prefer RS-1. I dunno if that's the bulb problem but RS 1 stood up clearly for better dynamic range, better colour, and less blown out high light spot
