I actually work in a furniture store that has a berkline showroom, but our rep didn't know the answer to my question so I thought I'd check here. I want to know more details about the lighted cup holders. Can they be turned on/off with a switch or do you have to unplug them or are they run on batteries? What kind of lights are used and how long do they last? Can they be replaced? Are they bright enough to be a distraction to your viewing enjoyment? I'm also guessing there aren't any stainless inserts with holes cut to allow the lighting system to work...I know the inserts weren't from Berkline anyway, but thought I'd see if anyone has made them for the lighted ones? Any other pros, cons, or just general information to be aware of if I'm considering these?

I hope to be able to answer this question in the next week or 2. I have ordered my berks and am just waiting to take delivery and they include the light cup holders.
I asked Roman a couple questions when considering them. The light is blue and it only turns on when there is no light/low light environment. IE it won't turn on if the chairs are in sunlight. Also, there is no on/off switch, if you want to turn the feature off you have to unplug the chairs. Thats about the extent to my knowledge. Hope it helps.
RunAway,
I am surprised your rep could not answer your questions :)
Anyway, the lighted cup holders have a transformer and a master cup holder. The other cupholders are slaves. You daisy chain the chairs from one to another, and you plug the power cord into the outlet. There is a photo element which controls the lighted cup holders. The cupholders will automatically turn them self on when you dim the lights in your room, and off when the lights in the room are on. You can, I guess, use the X10 outlet to switch them off if you do not like them, but then why getting them in the first place?
You cannot use both the aluminum inserts and the lighted cup holders. There is a LED rope light on the bottom of the cup holder which will prevent the insert of going all the way down. Again why would you get the lighted cup holder if you want to cover them with the inserts?
I hope it helps.

Roman, Can you retrofit 090s with these lighted cupholders and if so how do I order two sets of cup holders for three chairs per set?
wallyjar,
Yes, they can be retrofited. Contact me off line...
