This may have already been covered, if so, I am sorry for this, but I would still like to know if something is available...
I have several rooms that I would like to link to play the same tunes at the same time, but running wire would be next to impossible.
Question is, are there any decent HQ transmitter/receiver units available that would be able to sync several rooms together?
I currently have two seperate audio units in opposite corners. Getting those synced would be a start, but in order to get more uniform sound levels (rather than blasting in two rooms) I would need a third unit, or set of self-amped speakers to cover the gap.
Anyone know what might fit the bill and not interfere with the phone?
Easiest would be to use wireless Ethernet, and a number of linked SqueezeBox (http://www.slimdevices.com/) units. They can be set up to play the same thing at the same time.

I think I heard of that...
Is there any program that would allow this or be able to sync with the SB? (I think I read about the Box on Tom's).
It would be good to have one comp running, but two comps and a disconnected amp playing...

Oh, I also stumbled across the Sonos, I believe. Any opinion on that?
The important thing would be to be able to use hat I have now in sync with whatever I get. I have 2 stereos already hooked to computers, I would like to get another small system (or two) to complete the loop in the condo w/o having to deal with interference, or buy 4 nodes to have everything playing the same thing.....
Thanks for the help though, any more would be welcome and i will keep looking...

I have a Sonos system that is about 2 months old and love it. It is particularly strong in being able to synchronize playback accross multiple zones. The wireless controllers are exceptional and are always a hit at parties. It is capable of wireless and cat-5. I use a mixture of wired and wireless for 6 zones. It is definately a system worth looking at. You can find lots of good info on sonos's forums and some good reviews from Sound & Vision, Home Theater and I think CNet has done a review. David
Edit_ Sorry, I did not address the key question about synching with what you have. To get all the zones in sync, including my home theater zone when I am streaming music to other sonos zones from the home theater zone (e.g., a cd or satellite music channel). I have to make sure I run the source through the sonos first, then pick the sonos input on the reciever. This can be done using the multiple zones function if your reciever is equipped this way. Otherwise the home theater preceeds the output in other zones by .5 seconds or so. This is not an issue if you are streaming music off your hard-drive. This gets covered pretty well on the sonos forums if I have done a poor job explaning.

IOW, you need one for every station you have, you cannot stream directly from your computer in one room and sync it with the SONOS in another without the +/-1/2 sec lag....
I kind of had a feeling it would be like that...
I have also looked at the Linksys system (Music Bridge) and that looks pretty interesting for much less price, but the problem with that being no real remote control access unless there is one that you can hook to your computer directly to be able to transmit commands....
Keep the info coming! The last thing I need is an impulse buy when the $$ is this much for even one unit!

Heard about this streamium unit (http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/catalog/tree/en/us/consumer/home_entertainment_gr_us_consumer/audio_systems_ca_us_consumer/wireless_music_systems_su_us_consumer/product/wacs700_37_us_consumer/ce/Wireless_Music_Center_Station+WACS700_37) from Phillips that might do what you are talking about.

Well, I am on tech support to India now where the woman needed me to spell "Ninja" and asked me if I can hook the bridge point to the router (also asked me what router I had).
After telling her that it was sitting here on my desk and was not going to be hooked up to anything right now and that my question was more along the line of being able to sync several units to one music stream/audio source she finally stopped scripting me and put me on light-FM hold music.
Oh, she got back and told me "no" because I would get "interference" because they were on the same channel. I asked if I were to change the channel to something besides the default "6" would this be a problem, and she said I would still get "interference".
I am crying BS. Either you need more than one wireless router on different channels, more bandwidth to send the music OR the software does not currently support multiple streaming. There is no such thing as "interference" if this thing is attached to the net and has its own IP.
I hate idiot-tech service!
As for the Streamer, it looks like one of the types of thnigs I would look at, except for its all-in-one kind of setup and the fact that they think that you can fit all your music on 40Gs and that you can fit 750 CD on 40Gs....
Not too techie...
