I just received a 8300HD from Time Warner for my new 56" JVC. They hooked it up with the YPbPr cables.. I thought the HDMI would be better so I put a cable I had on there and the picture looks alot brighter but is jagged all over the edges...Could this be a bad cable? I had it on my DVD player and it looked fine to me. It is a Monster 800 I got off eBay.

Thanks

Did you calibrate the input on your TV? Doubt it's a bad cable, with HDMI if the cable is bad either you get no picture or if the cable is causing some data loss you get sparkles on the screen.

The optimal display settings for HDMI and component are different, sometimes significantly so. If you have previous tweaked your settings for component, you will need to do the same thing for HDMI.

Does your 8300HD from TWC have Passport, SARA, or TWC Navigator?

With Passport, enter the Settings -> Settings menu and find the output settings; enable native mode with 480i, 720p, and 1080i selected.

With SARA, turn the unit off, then press and hold down the info and guide buttons until the setup screen appears; choose Advanced Setup and enable 4:3 480i, 720p, and 1080i; save that change, turn the box back on, and choose AutoDVI/AutoHDMI in Settings -> Settings menu.

It is running passport software. I a pretty sure 480i, 720p, and 1080i are all selected as with the YPbPr but I will look at it again when I get home.

Thanks
