I am surprised that no one has mentioned it yet.

This is a 30-min no-live-audience/outside-studio (a la "My Name Is Earl") starring Andy Richter. It seems Conan O'Brian is an executive producer and one of the writers for the pilot as well.

The premise is that Andy Barker is an accountant who just just opened up his own business in a location which used to be occupied by a private investigator. So, he gets involved in some P.I. works.

I thought the pilot was pretty promising. Will keep it in my SPs for a while.

Like you, I'm surprised that there are not more posts. The show has promise. I enjoyed seeing "Buster" from "Arrested Development again. The show had that quirky, off the wall feel that I like. Of course, since I liked it, that means it probably will not be around long. It's not a cookie-cutter sitcom and deserves a chance.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. While the reviewers pegged it as not a big LOL comedy I love the Richter low key approach which produces mostly titters and broad smiles.

I'd guess it won't last long at all. Moderately funny, but like an SNL sketch I don't think there's much they can do with it beyond a few episodes.

I thought it was pretty funny and promising (loved all the homages to detective movies and film noir), but I just can't imagine that this will catch on with a broad audience.

Don't see this making it past 4 weeks. It's amusing but not that funny. It has less belly laughs than Knights of Prosperity and we know what happened to that. Knights would have made a good partner for it as well.

On a cable network I could see this creating an audience in the way that Monk and Pysch can but not on NBC in a prime sitcom slot.

Either way I definitely don't think it 's as funny as "... Controls the Universe" which was also canceled. So that doesn't bode well either.

Most of the critics actually liked it. It is the public which apparently doesn't. The ratings last night were miniscule.

I found the show interesting. There were some good moments - enough to keep me watching. I'll give it a couple more episodes to see where it goes.

I think I read it only has a 6 episode order from NBC, so they appear to be keeping it on a short leash. I plan to record and watch the episodes, but I agree with the general consensus that it won't catch on with the mass market. I think Andy's first show on Fox (A.R. Rules the Universe) was much superior, at least after having seen 1 whole episode of this one.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe was one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen ever in my own humble opinion... They need to pair it up with Arrested Development, Precancellation Family guy, to a lesser degree Undeclared and start its own really crappy network of great cancelled shows that will only last one week of programming but id still watch it all the time nonetheless...

Add 'Freaks and Geeks' to that (from the creators of Undeclared)
Firefly too

I absolutely loved it. Thought it was quite funny and interesting. Andy Richter is comic genius (loved him on New Adventures of Old Christine too).

I thought Andy Richters previous show was funnier than this. I hope it can stay on for longer but don't see it surviving, unfortunately.

Love Andy Richter and was really looking forward to this show, but I thought it stunk.

Some people seem to forget this isn't your typical 30 min comedy show with mostly dialogue, it's also an action/adventure detective program. It may not be a laugh a minute, but the added action outside of the same old sets certainly adds to the entertaiment value.

Poor Andy.

I really like this show. As ZenithPete pointed out, they get outside, which is very entertaining. I think it's very witty and the supporting cast is quirky/funny in a somewhat original way. I'm a fan of Andy's style of lowkey humor. Andy's wife has big talents.

Too bad it's tanking.

I liked the latest episode. I thought it was enjoyable.

Unfortunately being just "enjoyable" probably doesn't cut it at prime time. Small on big laughs and not formula sitcom style. NBC stuck with The Office but I still don't see them getting behind this one.

Yeah, I think it will be tough for NBC to order more past the original 6 episodes.

Maybe they can move it to a different time slot...

Do you have HDNet? They started showing ARCTU (IMO, the funniest show EVER!) and Arrested Development back-to-back on Wednesday nights. ARCTU has been on there for a few years, but it's just now back in primetime. Greg the Bunny is on in that stretch, too, I think.

Great job, HDNet!

yeah, i have ARCTU set up on my cable DVR for the HDNet airings along with Arrested Development...AD has gotta be one of the funniest shows of all-time...too bright for the general public, which is why it struggled for its 3 seasons. i was never really into ARCTU, although i just grabbed all 18 eps on DivX and have been watching them non-stop...great show...can't wait to catch 'em in HD too.

If I didn't have to pay for the entire HD Suite I would get HDNet just for those two shows. ARCTU was ahead of it's time (and on the wrong channel - Fox hate sitcoms), and Greg was stupid but eventually grew on me as being a show full of funny characters. I was disappointed that Greg on IFC was not the same.

The two episodes on 4/14 were hysterical. I'm sad to this show go...

The show was getting beter and better with every episode. NBC has been on a roll with their sitcoms, quality wise, in my opinion. Too bad this one is gone.

I'm a little sad to see this show go too. I thought it was just starting to pick up some steam. I do have to say that I am glad that NBC had the decency to show the episodes that they did have... which is more than some other networks.

I hope that Andy Richter can eventually get something working on television. Maybe these failures are all leading to him taking over Late Night when Conan leaves.

Why would he do that? Andy could just re-join Conan when he does the Tonight Show... presumably in LA?
