tonyd79 03-17-07, 05:52 PM Only game I am seeing in HD right now is Lou/TAMU.
You'd think this would be better with fewer games today but it appears that CBS has only one national HD feed so far.
Red Dog 03-17-07, 06:11 PM WTF is going on with this now. In DC, the VCU/Pitt game is blacked out on the package and the Georgetown game (local) is on 706.
Occasionally during the games I have slight period where the picture freezes and no sound is present. Others experience this or is my receiver having problems. Thanks.
tonyd79 03-17-07, 06:31 PM What a mess.
Suddenly all the feeds are HD and I am getting one that I shouldn't (Georgetown is on my local).
Either CBS has given up or they really messed up today...
HD facilities were tied up with the late running Texas A&M v Louisville.
tonyd79 03-17-07, 06:39 PM Huh? They have four HD feeds. I didn't see anything like this Thursday or Friday.
tonyd79 03-17-07, 10:15 PM Okay, I figured out the flex/constant switching pattern yesterday (I think I was the first to post it here and on the sister forums of dbstalk and tivocommunity) but now I am just baffled.
There are two games happening right now. Two. And the D* feed of the IU/UNC game is SD? (Has been since 10 pm ET.)
If CBS does indeed have the capability for four feeds (which tjey seemed to show) why not have two flex and two constant when there are only two games.
This does not bode well for next Thursday/Friday.
mythical_phenix 03-17-07, 10:20 PM I'm an out-of-market Pitt fan who purchased this package for the first time this year simply to see some Pitt games in HD. I'm underwhelmed. With the HD that is, not with Pitt! I realize this has been bashed to death already, but I need to contribute also. I had to go to a swim banquet this evening, so this early this afternoon I set up the HD-250 to record channel 709, presumably Pitt in HD. I did get Pitt, which I actually felt lucky about, but the HD came and went at least 5 times during the course of the game. What is up with that? Hey, I have at least one more go at this, so that's good.

tonyd79 03-17-07, 11:15 PM I sent a long email to CBS about the problems with the HD distribution. I think they owe the viewers an explanation and an apology.
sleddogn 03-18-07, 10:31 AM Ken H stated that next week, ALL games will be in HD for everyone, i think.
tonyd79 03-18-07, 03:20 PM Anybody have a real connection into DirecTV to complain about the lack of HD on the HD channels yesterday and today? If you call in you get a CSR who wants to check your signal and your box!
rkunces 03-19-07, 12:26 AM I don't understand why there isn't a straight HD backhaul from the trucks or arneas. This weekend was rediculous with the lost HD coverage. And for god sakes please get rid of these stupid blackouts. Its one thing not to be able to see a game in HD but for games to be missed by almost half of a half is bs especially for having to pay for this.

The reason there is not just a straight HD backhaul from the truck is because the truck are not rolling commercials for events like this. Also the quick live lookins, gametrax and all other studio stuff would be impossible if viewers received a feed directly from the truck.

Good...get rid of that crap. I was watching a "local" game on Friday, it was a 1 point game in the second half and they went to a live look in of another game for ten minutes, just to watch 2 of their timeouts  . CBS = Crappy Broadcasting of Sports?? That's what I'm beginning to believe.

The thing is though when they cut off the HD coverage and use the SD version on the HD channel when the game has been cut to go to a live look in you don't see the gametrax or other stuff. If they can do it for the SD version why not the HD?
