The Home Theater Cruise ad to the right of my screen is causing my CPU Usage level to go up to 100% as shown in my Windows XP Task Manager.

I use Firefox and sometimes have a half-dozen Tabs open (different AVS forums) and i've finally discovered that if two of those tabs have the HT Cruise ad running it maxes out my CPU usage and practically locks up my PC. As soon as i close one tab my CPU Usage drops say 40%, then when i close the other offending tab it drops another 40% or so.

I'm wondering if this ad is some sort of a memory hog, or maybe something with my PC is incompatible with the ad. My PC was bought a year ago and has an AMD 900Mhz processor and 512MB of RAM and plenty of video memory. As long as the HT ad isn't on any of my tabs or browsers my normal CPU usage ranges from 1% to maybe 15% and the PC works great, but when the HT Cruise ads come up my CPU Usage starts to soar till it max's out and practically locks my computer up.

Hello....

Sounds like a flash issue in your browser. I also use FireFox and have no issue nor has any other reports come in. The ad has been on the site for quite some time.

Hello....

Sounds like a flash issue in your browser. I also use FireFox and have no issue nor has any other reports come in. The ad has been on the site for quite some time. You appear to have hit the nail on the head, as usual. I have indeed had the problem for several weeks but only recently found the cause (the HT Cruise ad).

Based on your Flash comment, i googled around a bit and found info on a Firefox support site saying if you are having problems viewing Flash content (especially on version 1.5 which i'm still using) to download the lastest version of Macromedia Flash Player. I did so, and now i currently have about 10 AVS Forum tabs open and three of em are displaying the HT Cruise ad yet my CPU Usage is now hovering around 11%, much much better than the 95%-100% before updating my Flash player. So far it appears that this solved my problem.

Thanks David !!
