View Full Version : Best DVD player for a video processor?

I am using an htpc but am making the switch to a video processor. I need a non-SDI dvd player. My wish-list:

- able to send an unprocessed signal over dvi or hdmi (so as to let the VP do all the deinterlacing/scaling work)
- excellent MPEG decoder
- fast and responsive. I have a sony player which takes close to 10 seconds to eject its tray, and longer to start playing. Drives me nuts...

The rest would be nice, but is not necessary;
- able to skip the normally non-skippable stuff, fbi warnings etc (the htpc spoiled me that way :))
- remembers position on a per-disc basis

That's all I can think of for now - and yes fries with that would be nice :D

Any suggestions?

The 970 is indeed 480i over hdmi capable.

However this (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8517937&&#post8517937) worries me.

Well then you will have to either deal with the bug and live with it or ,
you can just use cp or sv and let your scaler take it from there,..

Hi.

I use oppo 970hd in HDMI (480i and 576i) with scaler vantage HD and result is very very good as well as pioneer 868 avi !

Moreover, 970hd is able to skip the normally non-skippable stuff, fbi warnings etc.

And change of layer is undetectable.

Thanks for all the pointers. Looks like the cheapest option is the Oppo :(

Moreover, 970hd is able to skip the normally non-skippable stuff, fbi warnings etc.? are you sure, I seem to be unable to skip this stuff. I know there are 971H modified fw's that can do this, but the 970?
