I have decided on an HDTV (LCD) to buy in the coming days. It has a HDMI input. directv will be coming by next week with an HD/DVR receiver. I'm trying to find what type of cable I need. I don't want to deal with a sales rep trying to push some monster cable on me I don't need. I'm find to order something online, but what will I need? I'm assuming the Directv receiver will have an HDMI interface. Do I need to get a male/male connection? Any recommendations on an affordable high quality cable?

Go to Monoprice.com (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&style=) and order the cheapest HDMI cable (male -> male) you can get in the size you need. The quality of their 24AWG HDMI cable is just as good as the >$100 Monster pieces for 1/8th the price.

You may get an HDMI cable w/ the HR20. But as others have posted in the past there is no guarnatee it will. As stated above, you can't go wrong w/ monorpice quality and price.

I just got an HR20 installed on Friday. It comes with an HDMI cable as well as component cables. This appears to be standard equipment that comes inside the HR20 box.

I'd wait until the installer delivers the goods. Worst case, you use the component video connection until you get the HDMI cable but I suspect you won't have to get a cable.

FYI, if you do decide to buy a cable, check amazon. They sell them for around $10. Most retailers will charge you around $100 for the same cable.
