I hope this isnt a stupid question, but I have been given a DirecTV D11 receiver box and my old single LNB dish will not work with it.

Can anyone out there tell me what type of satellite dish is needed to make this receiver work?

A D11 should work with a single lnb dish. They're designed to be used with Round, dual and triple lnb dishes, and also work with the 5lnb AT9/AU9 as well.

If you go into menu>setup>satellite you can repeat guided setup and confirm which dish type you're using.

The receiver should work with a single LNB dish. You wont get every channel but you will get all the core channels.
