I just purchased a Samsung 61" DLP HL56187W set. I connected two Polk Atrium 45p powered speakers to enhance the sound a bit. I'm happy with the sound, but have found that you cannot control the speakers volumes with the TV volume.
Also, I have to turn the internal mute on in order to get sound through the speakers when playing an HD-DVD via my XBox HD-DVD player. Is there some type of gadget that could be used to control the volume remotely?

I doubt it. I believe what I'll need to do is get a small amplifier which has a remote, and connect some non-powered speakers to it, then connect the amplifier to the TV.
