View Full Version : Berkline 45012?
kromkamp 03-19-07, 12:40 AM In Toronto the Berkline showroom only has two models on display, the 45004 and the 45012 (yes, not even any 090's!). I realized from these two models that I definitely want something with a higher back.
The 45012 model is *ugly as sin*, but man o man is it comfortable! In particular the headrest was exactly the right height and the padding at the head was exactly right.
Are there any other Berkline models with a similar headrest (by that I mean with the extra padding so that you arent looking at the ceiling when you recline and rest your head on the back!)
Also, although I cant order from the dealers here (because I'm in canada), I would appreciate if someone could tell me whether or not the 45012 is an expensive model or not.
Thanks,
Andy K.
Andy,
If you are not 6'4" or taller, the backs of the 45012 (45" height) will block your surround sound. If you are around 6' tall, then 45003 could be a good chair for you and will provide extra head support that you are looking for. The 45012 is not the most expensive chair - it is somewhere in the middle of the price list for all the different models.
kromkamp 03-19-07, 12:34 PM Thanks Roman.
I've decided I prefer the head support at the expense of a little bit of fidelity. My surround speakers are to the sides and above the seats so the headrest shouldnt block out the sound from those (although I certainly can see how rear channels in a 7.1 system would be affected).
Do any other models have similar generous padding on the headrest? I used to think the 075 model headrests tilt forward but they appear only to go up and down.
Thanks,
Andy K.
45003 (41" tall), 187, 094, 194 and 194 (all 44.5" tall).
I've sat in the 45012 - I thought it was the worst chair I've ever sat in. The Big Screen Store in the metro DC area is now carrying them, and besides being VERY ugly, it has a padding that surrounds your entire body vertically. I felt like I was being held by a baseball mitt.
Even if one likes the feel, it looks like you are sitting on a maxipad or something. Seriously.
It is a wierd chair.

kromkamp 03-19-07, 03:02 PM :D I cant disagree with you about the look, they are hideous! But when you sit in them IMO they are extraordinarily comfortable.
Personally, I find recliners to be a bit of a paradox - the ones that look nice usually arent comfortable, and the ones that are comfortable usually dont look that nice!

krom,
Just re-read my post. Sorry if I was being dismissive. I thought they were awful to sit in - I felt like I was being eaten by the chair. But it could just be me.
Sorry if I offended you.
kromkamp 03-19-07, 06:37 PM No offense taken! I know the feeling you're talking about - the raised ridge around the perimeter is certainly.... different :)
I guess the moral of the story is no-one should consider buying this model without sitting in it first...

dachavez 03-20-07, 02:28 PM I just ordered the 091 group, which has the tall back. I sat in them at a local furniture store and thought they were very comfortable. The upper portion of the back support is only attached at the top and can be positioned, much like a pillow, behind your head.

lol! Thank you for bringing some humor into my day. :D

It appears (from pictures) the same is true of the 45001? I'm considering this model also.
Does anyone know somewhere in western NY state where I can see a couple of these? Absolutely no stores in Toronto have any showroom models!

I believe I have seen one in Best Buy.
nakhter 11-16-08, 10:26 PM I just got my new 45012 seats and I had an impression that the armrest on these seats would open-up to store remote or other items.
Can someone please confirm if this is not the case and armrest are fixed.
I have a 4 seats curved configuration in black - extremely comfortable and
not ugly at all (Beauty is in the eye of the beholder).

Your impression was incorrect. There are no storage compartments in the 45012 recliner armrests.
johnnyrocks 12-15-08, 05:09 PM My local Watsons is having a sale on theater seats, looks like they are made by Berkline for Watsons. I can get a curved 3 piece for $1088 plus tx, it's a floor model, but in mint shape. I know it's the same as one of the Berklines, but I'm not sure which one, the silver screen line is called Sedona. They are tabacco leather "where you touch"..... This seems like a good deal to me, as I see most of these similar seats by berkiline would cost me at least $1500. Just looking for opinions on these seats..........Need to decide in the next few days....
