hi,
I found last weekend a workaround to play the region B disc of The Omen on my Japanese PS3:
Workaround: When you insert the disc, wait for the splash screen that warns that this is a region B title only. Hit "triangle" on the joypad to access the PS3 BD menu, and click on "Main Menu". The disc launches the menu and from there you can start the movie. I've been able to watch the entire film without any problem.
I don't claim to be the first to have found this trick. I heard some chatter, but I don't remember if it involved The Omen.
I have also tried to perform the same workaround on 2 other "pure" Region B titles I have, Fox's FF4 and Sony's RV, but trick doesn't work and you can't go past the splash screen.
Does it mean then that we can have two sorts of region coding -- a "soft" version that we can go around it, and a "hard" version that we can't defeat (for the time being)?
Do you know of any other BD where this workaround can be used?
