Has anyone tried painting recessed light trim? I have stark white trim on a tan ceiling and would like to paint them the same as the ceiling.

Yes. Standard "white" trim rings were waaay cheaper for my can lights. As the trim ring and reflector were seperate pieces, a $4 can of black spray paint helped save my some $$$.

My ceiling is grey and I used grey primer..worked great. Nice flat finish.
I think any spray paint intended for metal will work.

What do you guys think of a spray primer with a regular latex wall paint?

If they are plastic, use a a sandable primer and your choice of paint. For metal ones I always powder coat them.

If you can use a spray gun, the finish is great. I used it to spray my lights Metallic gold like my trim.

Thanks a lot guys. I might have access to a sprayer. Think I will give that a try.

The finish was not that important to me and I sponged flat black latex enamel on mine. It worked great giving it a mat finish. Johnathan
