Halcro dm-38 Amp Caters to Elite
by Bob Archer
Manufacturers like to target the "best-in-class" consumers.
Companies like Rolex, BMW, Canali and Sub-Zero invest heavy marketing dollars to tout the benefits of upscale watches, automobiles, clothing and appliances to a group that has the resources to spend and the desire to own top-of-the-line products. It goes without saying that major aspects of these benefits are the quality, look and performance of these products.
In many respects, the custom-installation industry has been catering to this consumer group for years and, today more than ever, integrators have a growing list of products from which to choose.

That brings me to Halcro, a company that made its debut in the U.S. a few years ago with its acclaimed Reference line of products. Following the launch of its initial product line, the company proceeded to release its Halcro Logic line of home-theater products, and more recently additional Reference products, including the dm-38 stereo amplifier.
Technologies and Design
Without getting into too much detail, the dm-38 is a state-of-the-art product that incorporates a host of proprietary designs. These design elements can be found in the areas of the input stage, driver stage, output stage, power supply and its industrial engineering, which serves a dual purpose of cooling the amp and providing eye-pleasing looks.
Halcro is consistent in its approach of minimizing distortion without having to resort to using negative feedback circuit designs to eliminate the problem of distortion. Some of the visible engineering touches that an installer can explain to a client, however, include wooden feet that act as stands, separate compartments that house the amp and power supply, and cooling fins that are designed to contribute to the amp's appearance.
