This will be a pain because you'll not only have to switch the switch, you'll have to switch the TV from cable to broadcast mode. videobruce 03-20-07, 08:08 AM No, it gets worse. If the TV doesn't have separate memories, you will have to do a re-scan each time you switch from cable to OTA. As far as anaolg cable, I'm sure with a QAM tuner, you will have 'in the clear' digital channels available. Best is to check your local reception forum; http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=45 The only two manufactures that have separate inputs and memories are Mits and Samsung. Hitachi might be a third, but I'm not sure. HP sold a couple of sets (2600, 3200) last year with that capability. Mits is the only one that really shines. (Unless anyone else can add to that list.) The easiest solution is to use the QAM tuner off the set and get a ATSC tuner box using one of the component inputs. BTW, welcome to the forums. nybbler 03-20-07, 10:43 AM Fortunately my Sharp does have separate memories, but yeah, that would be bad! videobruce 03-20-07, 11:15 AM Then all you need is a A/B switch. A remote model is available. No big deal. ekb 03-20-07, 12:23 PM The only two manufactures that have separate inputs and memories are Mits and Samsung. I have a Sony that does. Ed aemeeich 03-21-07, 02:33 AM The only two manufactures that have separate inputs and memories are Mits and Samsung. I have the LG 42LB1DR - 42" LCD with HD DVR that has dual rf inputs & memories. I have an attic antenna for the local HD, and analog cable. I also get the QAM digital channels, but because they don't all show up in the TV Guide onscreen guide for the DVR, I can't use them to record. I recently helped a friend set up his 37" LG and it only has 1 rf. Our plan was to run the HD antenna into the tv, and the analog cable into the VCR connected to the tv by AV cables. Then you would use the VCR to tune the cable channels. But, he ended up being able to get all the local HD channels through the QAM tuner and was able to return the HD antenna. Michael videobruce 03-21-07, 08:03 AM I have a Sony that does. Sony what? ekb 03-21-07, 01:00 PM Sony what? It's an LCD RPTV. Off the top of my head the model is something like WE<something>55. If important then I can look it up tonite. Let me know. Ed |
